For Ar shooters, it's boils down to having something fairly close to .308 Winchester without having to go up to an AR-10 platform. That's what excites me.
If you like to shoot your blackout supersonic, then the ham'r is for you. It's basically a blackout with with a little more case capacity. Ballistically it reminds me of the 300 savage.
I actually have two Blackout uppers, one with subsonic twist and one with supersonic, so I could just get a HAMR barrel to replace the supersonic Blackout barrel. You're saving me money on an AR-10 and I can redirect those funds to handguns. It's a great day to be alive.
That gun sounds absolutely insane. I mean "insane" as in "a person that starts fights with decorative trees". Wish I could try that pistol out. Have fun at the competition.
I always love your posts, Matthew, something new to learn in each. It also resonates with a book I just bought that explains how self-imposed limits makes for greater creativity. 🫡
I absolutely agree with that. Much of my best writing has been done with strict criteria, and some of my favourite guns are the ones I built using only materials I had available.
I need to read up on the .300 HAMR. I own and shoot the Blackout, but this one is new to me.

And it would keep me from having to get an AR-10 -- just another barrel for the 15. I like it.

That tree had it coming!
